it is 30secs stop ... ( 1 year ago by terryyouth)
it is 30secs stop after 3/4 statins which are considered bigger stops, rest all it is only 20 secs. there are slow trains which stops at all stations and fast trains which stop only at the ' bigger stops' which is major only becoz fast trains stop. the difference between all stops would be an average distance of 3 minutes.
most of the ... ( 1 year ago by terryyouth)
most of the shanties shown at 6.28 have now been moved so that trains can travel faster and journey time reduced by atleast 15 mins.

A good video. Palur ... ( 1 year ago by jgplnd)
A good video. Palur station should not be closed; imagine the livelihoods of hundreds of milkmen being affected by this decision; also the milk processing plants to which these milk cans are being sent. The suburban train services in Chennai (Madras) are less crowded, and are neater; people behave better; somebody should capture the scenes between Chennai Beach and Tambaram suburban lines; you can see the difference.

Have used trains in India in 1985 and 2005. No complaints and, frankly, a very good experience. Don't expect the Alcala (sp?) or the Orient Express - but the trains are a gfood way to see India.

Liked the bit between 9:00 and 9:30. The information about Govindarajan, Station Master Palur. Atleast proves that some thing called 'family values' (and caring of one's dear ones) still exist in India.
